Danville Summer Singers: The Musical Staff

Barbara Hall, Stodghill Professor of Music at Centre College, founded and conducts two community choirs in Danville, KY. Summer Singers, with 65-80 members, began twenty-five years ago and brings men and women of all ages and abilities together for the love of singing. She began Sounding Joy, a group of 34-38 singers, in fall 2006 as an auditioned choir for women. She has also served several churches in the area as interim music director, performed widely as a mezzo soprano, and has taught voice at the high school and collegiate level. She has been on the music faculty at Centre College since 1980 and has also served as Associate Dean of the College and Chair of the Humanities Division as well as the Music Program. She received her undergraduate degree in music history from the University of Michigan, her masters in musicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and her doctorate in conducting from Indiana University.
